MacDrikus

In the early eighties (in the last century already) MacDrikus (Hendrikus Hoving) was persuaded to go on a European tour by a British reggae band. When after 3 months of touring the last performance was there and it turned out that the bus in which the band would go back to Birmingham also had to be delivered in the Netherlands, the crew had to find a "volunteer" who would take on this oh so important task, of course this became the youngest member of the crew and so Mac was put in the aforementioned van with all the musicians and instruments and there the journey began.

After a prosperous journey they finally reached Birmingham completely broke and penniless and the musicians managed to persuade a manager from another band there (turned out to be Musical Youth) to donate some petrol money. This was arranged in the rehearsal room of Black Sabbath! And then began the return journey. Also during this trip there were of course the necessary unforeseen situations, but finally back in the Netherlands MacDrikus knew for sure, this was life!

In the times that followed, MacDrikus picked up the necessary instruments, starting with the guitar, followed by keys and the bass. As a bassist he has played in various bands, the highlight being Hot Shot. After that band died, he was regularly called in to fill in for several bands.

Mac has also more than earned his spurs in the snack circuit, every weekend an artist  was accompanied somewhere or played at a company party or in a marquee and there he actually rediscovered quite a bit of singing. Something that was already there as a child. As a child he had a 10+ for rhyme and was delegated by the school to sing the boys' choir of the Matheus Pasion, in addition to his great horror he was standard at every opportunity by an aunt on a chair to sing a song .

At the end of the 90s, a CD was suddenly released, The Train, which includes the song "If You Laugh To Me" . With that song they regularly traveled to the studios of Joop van de Ende to play it at various shows.

MacDrikus is a multi instrumentalist, in the studio he plays every instrument himself. This grew because MacDrikus found explaining how a note should feel complicated and so did it himself.

Around 2005 MacDrikus left for southern Spain where he still lives and is involved in composing and making music.
